We built Approva to end the fax-and-hold grind
A team from healthcare revenue cycle and engineering, taking the prior-auth workload off the practices and billing teams who never should have carried it by hand.
Turn days of prior-auth work into minutes.
Approva started with a number that should embarrass the whole industry: how much skilled staff time disappears into prior authorization. Forms, faxes, portals, and hours on hold, all to move one request from a doctor's order to a payer's yes. Care waits. Denials pile up. Nobody meant for it to work this way.
Elena had spent fifteen years inside revenue cycle and had run the prior-auth desk herself. Sam had spent years building systems that move sensitive documents reliably in regulated industries. They put the two together: software that reads each payer's rules, files the request complete, and chases it to a decision, so the people who used to do it by hand can do the work only people can.
We are not replacing your team, and we are not practicing medicine. We are removing the delay on your side of the line, and we are doing it under a signed BAA, with security and accuracy that a patient's care deserves. That is the whole company.
Four things we do not compromise on
Built for PHI, from day one
We handle protected health information for a living. Approva signs a BAA with every customer, encrypts data in transit and at rest, restricts access on a need-to-know basis, and keeps an audit trail of every request and decision. We maintain SOC 2 and follow HIPAA.
File clean, never fast-and-wrong
Speed only matters if the request is right. Approva builds to the payer's exact requirements and shows its work. Anything ambiguous is held for a person, not guessed. A clean filing prevents the denial in the first place.
Built for the front office
Our customer is a practice manager, a biller, an RCM lead, not a developer. No new workflow for your clinicians, no setup marathon. If your team can't feel the weight lift in the first weeks, that's our problem to fix.
We don't practice medicine
Approva handles the paperwork and the persistence. It does not make clinical decisions. When a request needs judgment or a peer-to-peer, it routes to a clinician quickly, with the full record in hand.
Revenue cycle, meet engineering
The people building Approva, and the problem they lived before they built it.
Elena Ruiz
Co-founder & CEO
Spent fifteen years in healthcare revenue cycle, most recently running prior-auth and denials operations for a multi-specialty group. Started Approva after watching skilled staff spend their careers on hold instead of on patients.
Sam Foster
Co-founder & CTO
Engineer who built document-processing and integration systems in regulated industries. Obsessed with the boring reliability, clean data, careful error-handling, that lets an automated request be trusted with a real patient's care.
Trusted with PHI, by design
Prior auth means protected health information. Approva is built to handle it to the standard a patient's care deserves.

With every customer
- Encryption. Data encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Least privilege. Access restricted on a need-to-know basis, with audit logs.
- No model training on PHI. We never sell data or use PHI to train third-party models.
- Data control. You choose retention, and can export or delete on request.
We're happy to walk your security or compliance team through our controls and share documentation under NDA.
Give your staff their afternoons back.
See Approva file a real prior auth end to end in a 15-minute demo. Bring your toughest payer.
